An unearthed audio clip of Jonathan Majors admitting to abusing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, has made its rounds online.
The actor is heard conversing with Jabbari, "You strangled me and pushed me against the car," Jabbari says to Majors in the clip. Majors replies, "Yes, all those things are under 'aggressed,' yeah. That's never happened to me."
Majors was tried on eight misdemeanor counts after his arrest in March 2023 for a domestic violence incident, including assault, aggravated harassment, and harassment.
The Magazine Dreams actor has been making his rounds promoting the delayed film, which will be released on March 21st. After what many believe has been a two-year-long PR stunt to revamp his image after his fall from grace, the clip is shedding light on a grim reminder about intimate partner violence.
'If he strangles you, he will kill you.' Statistics have proven that IPV strangulation equals a high probability that the person is capable and could murder their partner. It is a blatant sign of foreseeable homicide, including choking for "intimacy."
Reports show that women are 750% more likely to be killed in the following year following a strangulation attack. In a nutshell, it is a huge pixelated red flag.
The initial reports of Jonathan Majors' violence towards his ex sparked a social media debate, with a divided conclusion regarding his actions. Then, of course, some of the division was simply those who wanted to paint a gentle picture of the talented actor following his rise to the A-list.
The Harder They Fall, the Loki series, Creed III, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania were several of his A-list draws, with more to come. That was until things came crashing down following reports of abuse.
What has been confirmed, yet understood for some time now, is that there is no misunderstanding. Violence is violence, and strangulation was a part of that.
It is rare and often never expected of stars to admit to such a thing. To do that would hold a person to a higher expectation than a PR run of positive deeds and red-carpet appearances.
If nothing more comes from this revelation than conversations surrounding intimate partner violence red flags, then that is something positive.
